By The Carolina Reaper is a cultivar of the Capsicum chinense plant. It is developed by South Carolina breeder Ed Currie, the pepper is red and gnarled, with a bumpy texture and small pointed tail. This is so damn hot that it can either kill you or can hospitalise you. If you ate even one piece then also it could cause a type of allergic reaction by burning the airways and closing them up.
This is not good for your health. In reality, this was initially developed to be used in medical treatment as an anaesthetic way to numb the skin.
We got the live example of a man who ate the world’s hottest chilli pepper in a chilli-eating contest ended up in hospital after experiencing “thunderclap” headaches.
The 34-year-old man had tried to eat one Carolina Reaper chilli in the contest in New York State.
Due to his daring task, he got “crushingly painful” headaches within the next few days. As per BMJ Case Reports, it is the first case came into light with eating chilli peppers.
The doctor who reviewed his case strictly warned anyone eating hot chilli peppers to seek medical attention immediately if they experience sudden onset headaches.
After the contest, the man experienced dry heaves. He started experiencing severe neck pain over the next few days along with severe headaches, lasting for just a few seconds at a time. The pain was not bearable at all and due to this, he went to the emergency room. He then got tested for various neurological conditions, but the results were negative.
A CT scan revealed that several arteries in his brain had constricted, leading doctors to diagnose him with RCVS.
So be sure when you are getting involved with such critical things.
